Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya was presented in court on Monday 19th May after Friday arrest.
The first time legislature was arrested on Friday along the Isiolo-Nanyuki highway and locked up at Nairobi Central Station.
Over his arrest, he was presentated at the Milimani Magistrate Court on Monday to anser to what authorities confirmed as hate speech during his public appearances.
As per the Presidential hopeful Peter Salasya, he claimed that he was ambushed by individuals who claimed to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the Isiolo-Nanyuki road after addressing a rally in Isiolo.
He added that his entourage was ambushed by the officers who also shot his vehicle, and disarmed his security team.
“I have just been attacked by unknown individuals claiming to be DCI officers,” Salasya wrote on his social media.
“They disarmed my security team, shot at my vehicle, and pursued me. One of my guards managed to help me flee into nearby bushes for safety.”
According to him, multiple vehicles intercepted his convoy, shot at the tires of his four-wheel drive, and immobilised the car.
Salasya was reportedly returning from political engagements in Meru and Isiolo and was headed to Nanyuki for a series of rallies when the incident occurred.
