Nairobi, Kenya — Media personality and public affairs communicator Deeq Hassan Mohamed, popularly known as Deeq Darajo, has urged young people in Eastleigh to reject dangerous irregular migration journeys and instead focus on employment, skills development and creating opportunities for themselves.

Deeq made the remarks during a visit to young people in Eastleigh, where he met with members of the community and held discussions on some of the challenges facing the younger generation, including unemployment, economic hardship and the growing pressure to leave the country in search of better opportunities.

During the engagement, Deeq encouraged the youth not to allow difficult economic circumstances to push them into making decisions that could put their lives at risk.

He particularly spoke about tahriib, warning that irregular migration can expose young people to dangerous journeys, exploitation, financial losses and other serious risks.

Deeq also encouraged the youth to look for lawful employment opportunities, learn practical skills and consider entrepreneurship as an alternative route toward financial independence.

He told the young people that unemployment should not be seen as the end of their future, but rather as a challenge that can be overcome through patience, determination and continuous efforts to improve their skills.

The visit also gave Deeq an opportunity to hear directly from young people about the difficulties they face in finding work and building sustainable livelihoods.

He encouraged them to support one another, share opportunities and make use of their talents and skills rather than believing that success can only be found abroad.

Deeq Darajo has a background in media and digital content creation and has built a public profile through online media, podcasting and public communication. His work has included discussions on social issues, youth development, governance and matters affecting Somali communities.

His latest engagement with young people in Eastleigh highlights his continued focus on issues affecting the younger generation and the importance of encouraging them to make informed decisions about their future.

The message from the visit was straightforward: young people should not risk their lives through tahriib when they can continue searching for legitimate opportunities, develop their skills and work toward building a better future.

Deeq urged the youth to remain hopeful, work hard and believe that their circumstances can change through determination, skills and constructive choices.
