NAIROBI — Fly-Skyward Express has launched its inaugural scheduled passenger service from Wilson Airport to Garissa Airstrip, a development aimed at strengthening air connectivity and creating new economic opportunities for Garissa County and the wider North Eastern region.

The launch comes after recent rehabilitation works at Garissa Airstrip, which were undertaken to improve infrastructure and operational safety in line with standards set by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and the Kenya Airports Authority.

KCAA Chairman Mr. Brown Ondego, EBS, joined Skyward Express management, senior government officials, and other aviation stakeholders to mark the occasion.

Expected Impact on Trade and Development

Officials said the new service will improve accessibility to Garissa, facilitate the movement of passengers and cargo, and support growth in trade, tourism, investment, and socio-economic activity in the region.

The event was attended by Garissa County Governor H.E. Nathif Jama Adam, Kenya Airports Authority Managing Director/CEO Moses Wekesa, and Mr. Samson Karau, Ag. Director of Air Transport at the Ministry of Roads and Transport, who represented the Principal Secretary, State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ms. Teresia Mbaika.

Flight Schedule and Operations

Skyward Express will operate the route four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Flights will depart Wilson Airport at 11:00 a.m. and arrive in Garissa at 11:50 a.m., providing travelers with a faster alternative to road transport.

The airline operates under an Air Service License issued by KCAA and in compliance with Kenya’s Civil Aviation Regulations. All flight operations are subject to KCAA safety oversight.
