The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has dismissed as fake a notice circulating on social media claiming that a demonstration has been organized against Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano.
The document, dated July 1, 2026, purports to be an official notification to the Nairobi Regional Police Commander of an intended peaceful assembly and procession to the Ministry’s headquarters. It alleges that demonstrators planned to petition for Miano’s removal over claims relating to her performance in office.
However, the Ministry has categorically distanced itself from the document, stating that it is fabricated and should not be treated as authentic.
Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano urged the public to ignore the notice and refrain from sharing unverified information, saying the circulation of fake documents is misleading and has the potential to create unnecessary public concern.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to delivering on its mandate of promoting Kenya’s tourism sector and assured stakeholders that its operations remain uninterrupted.
It also called on members of the public to verify information through official government communication channels before sharing it, as authorities continue to caution against the spread of misinformation on digital platforms.
