Nairobi, July 9, 2025 – Popular TikTok personality and Nairobi-based businessman Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo, known online as “Kan Maiyo,” was arrested on Wednesday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The arrest stems from a viral video in which he is accused of inciting violence against police officers and their families.
Maiyo, who has amassed over 25,000 followers on TikTok, is known for his outspoken views on police misconduct and government accountability, often shared alongside content promoting his logistics business.
According to the DCI, Maiyo was apprehended by plainclothes officers at Kimathi House, where he is believed to run a small office. Authorities say he is currently in custody and awaiting arraignment. The specific video that led to his arrest has not yet been publicly disclosed.
However, a recent four-minute video on his TikTok account shows Maiyo addressing the DCI directly.
