Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has filed a court petition seeking to stop the construction of a 17-storey affordable housing project in Lang’ata. The senator argues that the development involves the illegal conversion of public land and has been initiated without the necessary environmental assessments.
Omtatah further claims the project was launched without proper public participation or regulatory approvals, posing serious threats to local infrastructure, water supply, and residents’ privacy. He warns that proceeding with the project under these conditions could result in both humanitarian and environmental crises in the already densely populated neighborhood.
